Top 10 reasons to go for a run

Everybody can use a little more motivation. So, for those days when you just don’t want to get out of bed. Here are a few reasons to get yourself moving.

  1. It helps you lose weight – Running is one of the top ways to burn calories, burn more calories then you eat and you will lose weight.
  2. It makes you feel better – Whether it is just a case of endorphins or a real spiritual lift. I challenge you to come back from a run feeling worse then you left.
  3. You could live longer – Running one and a half to two hours a week can increase women’s lifespan by 5.6 years and men’s by 6.2 years, according to a major Danish study that surveyed 20,000 men and women over a period of 36 years.
  4. It increases self esteem – Running will make you feel better, which also increase how you fell about yourself.
  5. You sleep better – Insomniacs fell asleep in 17 minutes on days they ran, compared to 38 minutes on days they didn’t. They also slept for an extra hour on days they exercised.
  6. No expensive equipment needed – A pair of shorts and a pair of shoes and off  you go.
  7. It can strengthen your joints and bones – Running can strengthen the density of your bones. Making your body stronger.
  8. Running can help keep your mind sharp – I have often heard this theory, but now we finally have proof.
  9. You will improve your cardiovascular health – This may seem like a no-brainer but increasing your cardio health is key to a healthy life. Running has been shown to increase blood flow and even HDL cholesterol ( the good stuff).
  10. Reduces stress – This is often why I run. Being an entrepreneur is great, but it comes with boatloads of stress. Nothing quite relaxes me in the same way. Running is even said to release alpha waves in your brain, leaving you feeling relaxed.
